The Miami Marlins crushed by Atlanta Braves 1-7 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 31 at Turner Field in Atlanta.
With this win, the Braves won their seventh straight game and proved their focus.
Showing their complete authority, the Braves’ took an early lead in the first inning and later kept the Marlins under pressure during the entire game.
Braves’ starting rotation played exceptionally well and earned a great victory for their team.
Especially Kris Medlen did well on the mound and allowed one run and four hits. He remained calm on the mound for five innings and looked confident in his spell.
Though he received a homer but he also struck-out three Marlins’ batters on 2.43 ERA.
“My career, I've taken it a day at a time and every day it has been different, The fact that I get another start is good for me and I'm happy about it. I'm glad it worked out for us today and we kept the winning streak going," Medlen said on his team and on his individual performance which proved one of the winning factors for the Braves.
Medlen added with confidence and explained about some other winning aspects of his team, "I was so much more calm, If you would have asked me before my first start in 2010 or before the first start of my career, it would have been completely different. But I just felt like I was in control and I was trying to pound the zone."
On the other hand, the Marlins starting rotation was hammered with heavy hits.
Starter Ricky Nolasco pitched five innings and allowed four runs, seven hits, four earned runs and one homer on 4.90 ERA.
Relief pitcher Dan Jennings tossed one inning but he allowed two runs, three hits one earned run and one homer on 4.00 ERA.
Closer Ryan Webb also could not capitalise on his fast pitches as he was smashed with one run, three hits in his two innings spell. He looked tired on the mound as his ERA also rose to 5.08.
