Miami Marlins demand high for trading Josh Johnson as they seek top prospects - MLB Update
With the Trade Deadline a few days away, the Miami Marlins plan to trade their starting pitcher Josh Johnson but at a price which is unaffordable for most of the clubs.
According to the sources, the Marlins’ management is looking for top prospects from other organisations. Due to this, it is going to be extremely difficult for the Marlins to conclude the deal before the deadline.
Realising that even the best of pitchers like Johnson cannot help them increase their winning percentage, the Marlins have resorted to selling. They are looking to refill their roster with the promising prospects that can lead them to glories in the years
to come.
Earlier the Marlins traded Hanley Ramirez and inducted young players on the roster as a result.
Similarly, they are hoping that by sending Johnson somewhere else, they can acquire players for upcoming seasons. In light of the fact that Johnson holds great value for the interested clubs, his trade can provide the Marlins great prospects.
As the Trade Deadline is about to come to an end, the negotiations will be expedited now. However, it has been feared that a deal may not be reached because the Marlins are h**l-bent on getting the desired prospects, which other organisations are reluctant
to offer.
One of the American League General Managers has stated that the Marlins’ attitude in the case of Johnson is such that they will not agree unless they earn something substantial in return.
Meanwhile, the Marlins will be planning to take their position on the table to a respectable level in the season. Though in case Johnson is traded it will be difficult, they will be trying to find ways to bring some solace to their disgruntled fans.
Undoubtedly, the fans will be extremely unhappy after they entertained hopes for making something special in the season at the start while watching their new Marlins ballpark inaugurated. As the Marlins adored their roster back then with stars, a dismal
return on investment can be disturbing for them.
Only way the justice with the aspirations of the fans can be done by the Marlins is by building a strong roster for the future.
In this context, it will be interesting to note how many prospects they can be able to bring on their roster after trading Johnson.
