Miami Marlins get Carlos Lee through trade with Houston Astros as they strengthen offence-MLB
In an attempt to solidify the offence and make first-base more secure, the Miami Marlins acquire veteran right hander Carlos Lee from the Houston Astros. Lee will be joining Marlins on Thursday.
The decision was mainly motivated by the poor performance being witnessed from the first baseman, Gaby Sanchez. He has been sent to Triple-A New Orleans now to make a place for Lee in the line-up.
Meanwhile, the announcement has come as an indication of the desire by the Marlins to win in their Division. During such a phase of the season, teams decide about what to do next. They solve a trade-off if they want to go for achieving something substantial
in the season or plan for future by inducting new prospects in the club.
In this context, signals given by this trade testify a positive intent that the Marlins are maintaining as yet, despite having an unimpressive record so far. It unveils their penchant to see the dreams they fancied before the start of the season coming true.
It appears that inauguration they had of their new ballpark and media hype that later had ensued are not letting them give up too early. A spotlight they enjoyed at the start will not be allowed to flee. Therefore, both the manager Ozzie Guillen and the
General Manager Michael Hill are trying their best to prove that they are equally good on the field, as opposed to being known for having a luxurious ballpark.
Commenting on this, Guillen was energetic to claim that their intent is clear. He said the move shows that they are positive and attacking and therefore will go all-out to pull off distinctions in the season.
"It's a huge move, I think, the front office, showing people how much we want to win," Guillen said. "They show how much we care about winning this year, they showed the players that they're willing to do anything to help this ballclub."
Meanwhile, issues about the money have yet to come to light. According to the reports, the Marlins gave up two prospects namely Matt Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen in return for Lee.
It will be interesting to see how far Lee can take the Miami offence in the season as he tries to adjust and make a positive impact for the team.
