Miami Marlins looking to find successor of Ozzie Guillen at the earliest, says Buster Olney - MLB
ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Miami Marlins are desperately in search of finding the successor of Ozzie Guillen. After leading his team to one of the worst performances in their history, Guillen’s job is at-stake and most probably he will be fired.
Right now Guillen is leaving for Spain for a one month vacation. Once he comes back, he may not be a part of the Marlins.
Guillen is aware of the fact that he has failed to deliver what was desired.
Marlins provided him with great financial leeway and star players. Along with this, he had the New Marlins ballpark. He was considered before the season as the luckiest manager of the Marlins due to the fact that the players on the roster that he had to
manage were extremely talented.
Despite all the money spent and the changes introduced, the Marlins’ owner Jeffrey Loria could not see any change in the fate of the club.
Just like what has been happening with the Marlins in the last many years, they struggled to post a respectable winning percentage.
Failure of the team is bound to result in changes to the managerial staff. Guillen leads the list of possible members that will be sacked and replaced for the upcoming year.
Regardless of what the odds of his stay in the Marlins are, Guillen wants to be a part of them for the years to come. He is looking forward to continue serving the Marlins.
"It's up to them," Guillen said. "I hope not. I like it here, but it is what it is…When your wife is cheating on you, you're the last one to know. Do I care? Of course I care. I'm proud. I'm a baseball man. Do I want to be back? Of course I want to be back.
If not, I don't sign a four-year contract."
With the post-season starting, it can be expected that the news related to the sacking of some of the Marlins’ officials surface.
Guillen will be hoping that despite all the criticism against him, he manages to escape the bad time and remains in the same club until the conclusion of his actual contract.
