Miami Marlins may sign contract extension with Giancarlo Stanton during offseason - MLB Update
In light of the fact that the outfielder Giancarlo Stanton has his arbitration around the corner, Miami Marlins may offer him contract extension during the offseason.
There is a possibility that value of Stanton rises significantly within a few years. If the Marlins grant him contract extension now, they can save a lot of money.
They may not have to allocate a huge amount of money for him due to a possible increase in the bargaining power of Stanton beyond 2013 regular season.
Right now, there are no such reports stating the intention of the Marlins to clinch the deal.
They are more concerned about addressing other areas affecting their team. They are trying to fix some of the basic loop-holes in the club.
Recently, the Marlins sacked their manager Ozzie Guillen, considering him responsible for their failures during the last season.
They replaced him with Mike Redmond, who is now reviewing the main issues confronted by the club and trying to respond to them effectively.
Redmond has a major responsibility on his shoulder. After the Marlins’ fans faced a disheartening disappointment in 2012 season, they are looking up to him as their saviour.
They are hoping that, unlike his predecessor, Redmond derives the best possible performances out of his players and helps the team posts better records in the upcoming seasons.
Whether agreeing on a long-term deal with Stanton in the offseason is on his agenda is not yet known. It will be interesting to get knowledge about his observation in this regard.
At the moment, Stanton is on his way to cement his place among the most reliable sluggers in the Major League. He struck mammoth home-runs in the last season.
He was unarguably the most effective for the Marlins when it comes to smacking huge hits.
As an acknowledgement of his consistent shows, he was selected for the All-Star Game. Unfortunately, he did not show up in it because of an injury.
If he continues with his excellent offensive contributions in the upcoming season, he will be in a position to grab many laurels. For 2013 regular season, the Marlins will be counting on him heavily, especially for scoring runs.
It will be fascinating to keep track of the reports concerning the contract extension of Giancarlo.
