Miami Marlins might want to trade Hanley Ramirez – MLB Update
With Jose Reyes finally in the ranks of Miami Marlins for the next six years, as per his contract, the management might want to consider trading their original shortstop, Hanley Ramirez, before preparations for the next season begin.
Reyes has been a shortstop ever since he started playing for the New York Mets and as soon as his talks began with the Marlins, Ramirez’s case had become the centre of every discussion. Marlins’ management had already clarified that Ramirez will have no
option but a move to third base – something which many legendary players in the past have done. New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez had to make way for Derek Jeter at shortstop, but his offensive abilities still rank him as a force to reckon at Major League Baseball.
Nevertheless, the player has not shown willingness to accept this change, but has been diplomatic at the same time. Ramirez appreciated the fact that the team is actually spending some big bucks to land top-quality free agent players, but felt that existing
players should not be overlooked in this flurry and should get at least equal, or preferably more consideration.
Ramirez has asserted time and again that the management has not spoken to him about the issue of him moving to third base and that he will continue considering himself as shortstop unless he hears something from the management. With a complex situation in
the making, the management might as well want to trade Ramirez and bring in a third baseman to play without any controversies till the time Reyes is in the team.
While the passion for representing New York Yankees forced A-Rod to make that shift at the age of 28, there seems to be no such incentive for Ramirez. As of now, no team has shown an interest in the player and seems that if he does plan to make the move,
it will be either late in the offseason or at the midseason trade deadline in the regular season.
Finding a new home should not be a problem for Ramirez, but his form of late will definitely have an effect on his worth in monetary terms.
