Miami Marlins nail down 4-2 win against San Diego Padres as Jose Reyes hits two-run homer-MLB

The shortstop Jose Reyes’ two-run homer in the third leads the Miami Marlins to a 4-2 win against the San Diego Padres on July 28, 2012 at Marlins Park, Miami in the second game of the three match series.
While the Padres went through series of scoreless innings at the start, the Marlins managed to post the lead. Their first baseman Carlos Lee ensured them an early lead which was supplemented by Reyes with a home-run later.
The Padres did try to fight back late in the innings, but it was too little too late.
The Marlins’ relievers carried out an excellent job as they kept the lead intact in the penultimate innings. Given the fact that they have been vulnerable to leaking runs during such a stage of the games, manager Ozzie Guillen will be fairly satisfied with
their performance on Saturday.
Nate Eovaldi stepped on the mound as a starter for Miami. In little more than five innings, he allowed just one run while striking-out five. It was his second win of the season.
Steve Cishek came as a closer on the mound. By throwing one scoreless inning, he earned his fourth save of the season.
Meanwhile, Marlins’ manager accredits the contribution Reyes has been making so far as a hitter. Although he has not been a stand out performer, he has stricken hits on consistent basis, says the manager.
"Every time Jose is on the baseball field he can make a lot of great things happen," Guillen said. "Jose has been doing great, he's not hitting .390, but he's playing better than what people think. He hits the ball very hard, more than what people think.
Reyes is a guy we are going to play around."
Reyes has found it difficult to experience a kind of upsurge in the performance which can suddenly ring alarm bells for the opponents. Yet he has managed to be better than most of the hitters in the line-up. As the season progresses ahead, he will be looking
to be more prolific with regards to producing runs.
The victory cannot hide weaknesses that are still prevalent in the Marlins. Therefore, they will be trying to fix issues with their offence and keep the momentum going in the games to come.
