Miami Marlins offer Albert Pujols mega 10-year contract, St. Louis Cardinals react – MLB Update
In the quest to sign one of the biggest players being looked at during the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) offseason, Miami Marlins are reported to have offered one of the top players in baseball, Albert Pujols, a huge 10-year contract, of which the financial
terms and conditions have not been disclosed as of yet.
Albert Pujols, who holds an 11-year career record in the MLB and boasts three NL MVP awards along with finishing second four times throughout, is certainly one of the best and unique in his own way being incomparable to other players in the league as of
now, in the Majors.
The news broke about the Miami offer earlier this week as baseball leaders met for the winter meetings during the offseason, but having played throughout his whole career with the St. Louis Cardinals, it has also been reported that his former team is also
offering him an amount to counter the Marlins deal.
St. Louis general manager, John Mozeliak, is termed to have done everything in his power in order to keep the championship player playing on hi team, but only time will tell what Albert Pujols decides on doing.
"We've definitely put all of our eggs into this basket as far as trying to address it," Mozeliak said about his offer. "So for the resources upstairs here [in the team's suite], meaning all the people working, it would be helpful to start looking at other
options if necessary."
In every major offensive category, Pujols in definitely in the top ranks when looking at St. Louis’ history and since he is also the face of the organisation at the moment, they hope on re-signing one of their best players in order for his fans to keep coming
back for more every time.
"I suspect [resolution] is going to come quickly," Mozeliak said. "But we'll see. I can't say that with any confidence. That would have to come from that camp, their camp."
Being in his early 30’s, some might think that Pujols is near his downward age where he might begin slumping in the upcoming seasons and term such a long term contract to be a failing situation for either team, but being the player he is, many still support
the view that he will be equally as good if not better in the future.
