Miami Marlins open to entertaining interest in Giancarlo Stanton from teams - MLB Update
Miami Marlins have not stopped listening to the organisations that have shown eagerness for acquiring their outfielder, Giancarlo Stanton through a trade.
Though the club maintains that removing Stanton from the roster is not being considered, the officials have not eliminated the possibility yet.
The Marlins continue to give the impression that if some organisations offer an attractive package of talented prospects in return for Stanton, they will not refuse inking the trade deal.
Marlins are notorious for getting rid of star players in order to save money.
Earlier, they shipped some of the best players of their team to the Toronto Blue Jays, in an attempt to slash their payroll significantly.
Jose Reyes, who was acquired during the last season from the free agency by Miami, had an extremely expensive contract.
Despite the fact he possessed exceptional defensive and hitting credentials, the Marlins got rid of him, saving a huge amount of money as a result.
Currently, there is hardly anyone left on their roster, except for Stanton, who is considered a star by the fans.
The Marlins will enter into the next season, knowing that their fate has been sealed even before playing matches.
Fans of the club are conscious of the mediocrity of their team. No wonder, they expect nothing from the Marlins, more than assuming the lowest position on the table, as happened in the 2012 season.
Only thing that excites them is the possibility that Stanton will stand out and produce home-runs consistently next year.
Stanton was one of the few players that ensured some honour for an otherwise floundering Marlins.
He secured a place on the All-Star game roster, becoming the only player from the Marlins to earn the call for such a high profile match.
Unfortunately, knee soreness restricted him to appear in the extravagant fixture, resulting into an announcement of his replacement by the authorities.
Stanton was extremely disappointed, because he was excited to do something incredible in the match. Despite trying to overcome the injury, he could not put himself into a position to play the match.
Against this backdrop, the fans worries will only increase if Stanton is also traded by the Marlins.
His exclusion will be like a last nail in the coffin for the Marlins’ fans.
