Miami Marlins optimistic to sign Matt Garza – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs’ starting pitcher Matt Garza is certainly making some news after his team management stated that they are looking forward to trade him in order to include some potential hitters in the franchise as at the moment they do not have a designated
hitter in the roster.
First it was reported that the Detroit Tigers are very optimistic to sign him and might get involved in a potential trade with the Cubs. However, lately it has been reported that Miami Marlins are now approaching the Cubs’ management to discuss any possibility
of Garza’s trade in-exchange for two to three Minor League hitters.
Some inside MLB sources have also speculated in the media as the Marlins want to add Garza for strengthening their bullpen for the next season after they acquired free agent Mark Buehrle. They also show a great amount of support for Garza’s game as they
know he will be a major factor next season alongside their new starting pitcher Mark Buehrle.
Buehrle currently is the only key pitcher in the Marlins franchise and if Garza joins the roster, the Marlins will be a tough team to beat next year.
Garza’s game has been tested before in the Minnesota Twins along with Tampa Bay Rays and in the Cubs where he played with total commitment and never showed any issues in his consistent throwing.
Matt is considered one of the most feared pitchers in Major League Baseball. Last season as the Cubs’ main pitcher, he threw a 3.32 ERA along with 10-10 win-loss record, 197 strike-outs and 1.26 WHIP. While his career 3.83 ERA with 52-54 win loss record,
769 strike-outs and 1.30 WHIP also makes him a very competitive player.
The next few days will determine the fate of Matt Garza and if somehow the Miami Marlins managed to make a deal with the Chicago Cubs’ top management, the Marlins will be very strong next season. Mark Buehrle and Matt Garza will probably make a talented
duo in the League, rattling many teams. The Marlins will be hoping to acquire Garza to make a strong impact in their pitching line-up.
