Miami Marlins outclassed by Milwaukee Brewers 4-8 as Wade LeBlanc leaks runs - MLB Update
Starter Wade LeBlanc gives up three runs as the Miami Marlins are defeated comprehensively by the Milwaukee Brewers 4-8 at Marlins Park, Miami, FL on September 4, 2012 in the second game of the four match series.
The Marlins were derailed from an ideal position in the match by the Brewers. The end of the fifth saw them leading by one run. A couple of solid innings from their relievers will have ensured them a win.
However as has been the case from day one in the season their relievers stuttered and leaked runs handing Milwaukee an incredible victory in the end.
Relief pitcher Mike Dunn spoiled the contribution made by Miami’s offence in the game by giving up one run at a time when it was to prove a watershed event in the eventual defeat of the team.
At this stage of the game Miami needed support from the offence and some scoreless innings from the relievers in order to win. Far from this, they had to witness their hurlers allowing more runs and thus making it extremely difficult for the batters to launch
a counter-attack.
Offensively Giancarlo Stanton and Gorkys Hernandez stood out for Miami on Tuesday as both of them struck a home-run.
Marlins’ manager Ozzie Guillen is extremely impressed by the debutant reliever Alejandro Ramos who struck-out three on Tuesday. In particular Guillen is happy with his fearless attitude on the mound.
"The first time in the big leagues he pitches to the heart of the lineup and, not just because he struck out the guys, but the way he threw the ball, with a lot of confidence," Guillen said. "He wasn't afraid."
LeBlanc takes positives from his ability to recover quickly in the match after struggling at the start. Following the three runs he leaked, he made an impressive comeback as he completed the rest of his innings scoreless.
"I definitely finished better than I started," LeBlanc said. "Against a lineup like those guys have, if you're not ready to roll from the first pitch, it's going to be tough to bounce back. Luckily, I was able to refocus and make some pitches."
Still two more games are remaining in the series. It will be interesting to see how they attempt to win the upcoming matches in the series.
