Miami Marlins rout Philadelphia Phillies 9-2 as Greg Dobbs hits home run - MLB Update

The Miami Marlins’ third baseman Greg Dobbs hammers a home-run as he helps the team win 9-2 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Marlins Park, Miami on August 15, 2012 in the last game of the three match series.
The Marlins began slowly but as the game progressed they took their score way beyond the runs made by the Phillies. They were scoreless in three innings. However, they rose to a two run lead in the fourth before Philadelphia attempted to bounce back.
What made it extremely difficult for the Phillies to come back into the game were the six runs scored by Miami in the eighth.
Unlike in the last game, the Marlins saw sufficient number of hits struck on Wednesday. They connected 11 hits. Their left fielder Bryan Petersen and Dobbs did bulk of the contribution offensively.
Mark Buehrle started for the Marlins. He gave up two runs in seven innings and earned the win as he was able to keep the Phillies from blowing the lead. Apart from him, the relief pitchers also threw quality innings as the Phillies were not allowed any opportunity
to counter-attack late in the innings.
Meanwhile, Buehrle has talked of his counterpart Roy Halladay and how he had to perform exceptionally well to record the win.
"Any time you go against a guy like that, you have to be on your A game," Buehrle said. "Everything was working. I felt good. I got outs, and that's all that matters."
As far as the Phillies’ starter was concerned, Halladay struck-out seven in seven innings while leaking three runs. Meanwhile, Halladay narrates the situation when he forgot the count.
"Kratzy and I both thought there were three balls," Halladay said. "They weren't 100 percent sure, and that was a little bit surprising. Kratzy asked him and he said, 'Well, I think it's four, but I'm not quite sure,' and they asked the first base umpire
and he said, 'Well, I think it's four, but I'm not sure either.'”
The Phillies will be disappointed as once again their offence did not back up the starter.
As it was the last game of the series, they will be looking to put up improved shows in the upcoming matches.
