Miami Marlins serenade free agent C.J Wilson for next season -MLB Update
Earlier last week, news broke out that C.J Wilson, one of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) most looked after free agent at the moment, was going to be meeting with the Miami Marlins after the Thanksgiving holiday and quite possibly go into negotiations with
the franchise for the upcoming 2012 regular season.
According to latest reports, the free agent left hander met with the Marlins on Monday, November 28, 2011, and could be announcing a deal within the upcoming few days or weeks as the negotiating process may have already kicked off.
"They rolled out the red carpet. They seem to have a plan and made it very clear they'd like CJ to be a part of it,' said Bob Garber, Wilson's agent.
The Marlins owner, Jeffrey Loria, was also present at the occasion which included dinner and a tour of their ballpark stadium on Monday, but his agent still did not confirm whether a deal was finalised between the two and regarded it as a decision Wilson
would make after baseball’s winter meetings in Dallas.
In long time team, the Texas Rangers, is a place where Wilson is certainly comfortable and would not mind returning there for the upcoming seasons, which is something he has also hinted at himself.
"It may be a deal where he comes back and says, 'I want to be in Texas,' and it makes sense and we're able to work something out, and it may not," Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels told reporters last week in Texas. "C.J. is looking for what the market
will bring. He deserves to be well-compensated."
The 31-year-old kicked off his career in 2005 with the Texas Rangers as a relief pitcher and has established himself as one of the best in the professional baseball league.
At the moment, Wilson is 41-35 in his career with a 3.60 ERA, which is something the Marlins are looking forward to using next season as they have a lot of things planned in order to improve their team overall for position next time around.
Developments on the issue are expected in upcoming days on where Wilson will decide to go.
