Miami Marlins show off new uniform and logo – MLB News
After the Florida Marlins officially changed their name to Miami Marlins on Friday night, the club now has decided to create a complete change. The Marlins not only moved their office from Florida to Miami but also decided to change their uniform.
On Sunday night, here in Miami, the club’s short-stop Hanley Ramirez put on the new uniform and came out of the back stage to display new clothing officially to the media. Ramirez grinned and raised his arms to answer the applauses from the Miami fans.
Since the foundation of the club in 1993, the Marlins made their first ever-big change. Besides making change in their uniform, the club also changed their logo and colours. The players will now enter the park in a uniform formed with blue, orange, yellow
and black colours.
The club also moved their playing location from a suburban location to new Cozier ballpark. The club there was facing problems of limited place for the spectators, but now the new Cozier Ballpark has the capacity to handle more than 35,000 spectators. It
will also help the club to generate more income, which will ultimately allow them to be able to hire costly players, like Albert Pujols. A crowd of more than 30,000 in every game next season will also create room to compensate more minor players.
On Saturday, the Marlins’ owner Jeffrey Loria said Miami have given the club a chance to look into more options.
"Miami is a magnet -- the city, the manager, the new ballpark, the players we have," Loria said. "We have a terrific core here. All of it put together is the magnet."
The club is still under construction but the large video scoreboard was on to broadcast the Marlins’ new logo and new uniform. Word ‘M’ is has been highlighted in the logo--M with a sleek Marlin curled a block above it.
"If our ballpark could speak, its first words would be, 'Hola, Miami,'" owner Jeffrey Loria told 500 guests seated along the third-base line.
Ramirez, Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco, all three appeared in different uniforms. Ramirez was wearing a white one, while Johnson displayed white pants with black jersey. Nolasco was wearing an orange jersey with white pants.
