Miami Marlins sign Juan Pierre – MLB Update
Miami Marlins brought back Juan Pierre for one-year $1.6 million deal.
Pierre has already played in the Marlins in 2003-2005 while his new contract once again gives him a good chance to show his extraordinary hitting prowess.
Pierre is considered one of the best established Major League Baseball players who will also prove a very productive individual for the Marlins next season.
Earlier news came out in the media that free agent Pierre might sign with Philadelphia Phillies again but later no side agreed on a mutual understanding.
"I think Juan Pierre is going to see significant time in left field, He can man the leadoff spot for us. We're all very comfortable with that,” Marlins' president of baseball operations Larry Beinfest said as he explained in detail about Pierre.
Pierre finished the recent past Major League season with .307 hitting average along with one homer, 25 RBIs and .351 OBP.
“I think it's a big deal for us to bring JP home, I think he will really help Mike Redmond and these young players, JP is everything that is right about Major League Baseball. He's just a great guy and a great player. It's been a while, and we've missed him. It was time for him to come home, and we're happy to have him," Beinfest said.
He is twelve-year Major League veteran and knows tricks of the trade well. He started his career in 2000 with the Colorado Rockies while later he went onto play for the Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Phillies.
The Marlins recently completed a blockbuster deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. They traded three of their best players and desperately needed a good player.
Marlins traded Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson and Jose Reyes but as the trade happened, many in the Marlins' management started talking about good replacements.
Pierre’s signing with the Marlins is the result of its management’s ambition for potential replacements. Though they only signed Pierre, but according to some experts, the Marlins will sign more players in the recent future to start a new season with full conviction.
