Miami Marlins suffer structural problems as they experience another dismal season - Part 2
Every organisation that embraces milestones works through the process that entails rigorous planning and the objective understanding of the facts. Instead of growing panic following the dismal performances in a season, the focus is protected for future.
The selling of the pieces in an attempt to lighten the financial burden on the team defies the point as to why the Marlins went after those players in the first place. The way the Marlins have unloaded their roster before the trade deadline this year reeks
of bewilderment they are haunted by.
It shows the hollowness of their plans which they made before the start of the season. It explains that what they believe at one point in time and promises to go with it for years to come cannot last as long as they pretend. Therefore, the biggest reason
of their failure is the volatility in the decision making both in the past and the present.
While the role of the players can be questioned, the management does not deserve a clean chit either. The people at the helm of affairs are a hurdle against the stability of the club. Far from laying the foundation of the team on a solid basis, tickling
with the tantalising events is considered more important by them.
Making dramatic moves like going on a crazy spending spree in the off-season and fetching the spotlight are part of their fantasies that they have used the Miami Marlins as a platform to get them all of the attention.
Unfortunately, their myopic handling of the affairs has brought the club on the brink of the status of being an ordinary team in the Major League. The transformation of the club from being a mediocre in the National League East Division to an emerging formidable
team in the MLB, which was expected before the beginning of the season, has been barred from occurring. The team has been pushed back on the same thorns that the club has lived on for most part of their history.
It means that the roster moves they have chosen and the prospects that have been inducted through the trades have slammed the team back on those tracks again from where the club will have to traverse another long journey to emerge as a force to reckon with.
For the next season, they will be entering with most of the Minor League prospects on their roster. Thus, another failure is in the making.
However, just to give a twist to the taste of the fans, the team officials may decide again in the upcoming off-season to go viral in the market and pull off the big-wigs by going through another series of spending millions of dollars. In turn, they may
try to give an impression that they have fine tuned all that was required to achieving the glory, only to end up on the losing side again.
It has been a kind of vicious circle the organisation is trapped in for the last many years. Every time the Marlins play in the season and perform either good or bad, what ensues automatically is the immediate cleansing operation of the roster. Regardless
of what happens with the team, millions of dollars are pocketed every season by the owner.
It seems during the course of the season, the officials are more concerned about from where to generate maximum money with the short term objective in mind than how to build the team for winning the World Series.
With the revenue sharing agreement in place which allows the weaker teams to be given money by the other clubs, the owners have further grown conscious of how to take the advantage of the status of running an ordinary club in Major League Baseball.
Sooner or later, the reality must be known by the fans. The consciousness must arise that whether their officials are actually serious about making the club a great team or just the hyperbolic attempts by them are being made to keep the fans loyal to the
organisation.
