Miami Marlins want answer soon from Albert Pujols, agent in upcoming hours -MLB Update
Earlier, it was believed that Miami had offered veteran hitter and first baseman, Albert Pujols, a huge contract of which the exact financial terms and conditions were not disclosed or confirmed, but as time progressed and the Marlins had not confirmed any
signings, close sources have affirmed that the deal was not only a 10-year, $220 million offer but also that the team was awaiting an answer without any further patience.
It was learned that Miami made Pujols a 10-year mega deal for leaving his long time and original team, the St. Louis Cardinals, with whom he has won two World Series titles in the past six years, but as the hours pass, the Marlins are getting more and more
impatient.
In response to the Marlins, it is believed that St. Louis has also renewed their offer from the former, nine-year, $195 million deal that the veteran declined to sign earlier in February, which gave Miami something to work on and the Cardinals to reform.
While Miami is awaiting a prompt response from the veteran, Cardinals also have their hopes high on re-signing the face of their organisation so that he might stay with them for the remaining prime of his career.
"I suspect [a response] is going to come quickly," St. Louis Cardinals general manager, Dave Mozeliak told St. Louis reporters. "That would have to come from that camp. ... In this situation, we're participants. I don't think we're dictating anything."
Along with being part of the deal which has many potential participants besides the Cardinals and Marlins, Mozeliak also believes that they do not have the right to dictate anything but rather be a part of it like professionals are.
“In this situation we’re participants,” Mozeliak added. “We’re not dictating anything.”
It is still not clear where Albert Pujols, one of the most desired free agents in the vast offseason market, will decide to go because of the tempting offers he is receiving from around the league, some which have become known to the media and many which
are believed to be there but out of the eyes and ears.
