I'll be relocating to Peru for school for six months and wanted to know if I would look out of place if I dress typical Miami style; which is heels, shorts, tank tops, basically not a lot of clothing, but not skimpy either..

  1. Of course you would look out place.

Yes, the men would love it - they would probably have their hands all over you but that's up to you.

Yes, you could try to 'bring new style to the country' but most of South America is conservative and catholic and your dressing poorly won't convince many to change (see comment 1 above).

Realistically, your dress depends on both your location and 'group.'

First, it's probably colder in major cities than you think. The sun doesn't shine much in Lima and Cuzco is at elevation so it's cold too.

Second, there is both rich and cool in Lima but they may have a lot more money and may or may not associate with even rich foreigners.

A number of young Peruvian women dress provocatively but not by showing a lot of skin.

  2. i think u can dress the same way and if girlz dont dress the same way overthere u might bring them the new dress style and i think girlz u dress with heels and shorts or skirt and tank top are the sexiest good luck in ur trip to school

  3. Absolutely; the men will love it!

  4. If you're relocating to Iquitos, Peru, then yes.  Iquitos has tropical weather and the young Peruvian women there typically dress in tight shorts and tank tops.

Likewise if you're relocating to the tropical beaches in the north, such as Mancora or the city of Piura.

But if you're relocating to Lima, the weather has a cool breeze from the Pacific Ocean, which is fed from the Antarctic current and it is too cool to wear shorts and tank tops.  Women in Lima dress with warmer clothing, and in the center of town, the Miraflores District, are usually stylishly dressed.

And if you're relocating to Andean towns such as Cusco or Puno, you definitely need warmer clothing, long pants, sweater and light jacket, as it is quite cool up in the mountains.
