Mibleu, a surprise element in SIS Live Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot
Although there are plenty of in-form and dangerous runners in the line-up, Mibleu cannot be ruled out of the equation in the SIS Live Handicap Chase, taking place at Newton Abbot on Wednesday, May 30th.
The 12-year-old is returning to action after a gap of more than five months. Despite the fact that the veteran was not impressive in his previous few outings, one does not need much of a memory to recall his success at this
venue.
Colin Tizzard’s trainee was mighty impressive in his last trip at Newton Abbot. On a solid surface, he did a fantastic work in the Class 2 Bryan Westcott Memorial Handicap Chase, upsetting the 9-2 favourite, Exulto, by 2¾ lengths
to ensure the top position in August last year.
The Chasing Gold Racing Club-owned is going to face similar conditions today, thus he has a good chance of springing up a surprise. The odds are not in his favour at the moment, but it can pay to side with him.
In pursue of a cash prize worth £6,498, the dashing runner is all set to face some big names. Among his opponents are: The Chazer, Marodima, Mister Matt, Petito, Temple Place and De Luain Gorm.
Beside The Fire is heading the market following a tremendous win at Exeter earlier this month. In the class 4 Heavitree Brewery Handicap Chase, the Colin Tizzard-trained topped the table by nine lengths.
However, one must not forget that it was a soft ground at Exeter and he might find it difficult on fast going at Newton Abbot.
The Chazer was also triumphant in his previous appearance at Hereford, where the going was heavy. So, things are not quite favourable for him either.
Marodima and Mister Matt have been unlucky over the past few weeks. The latter missed the top spot by ¾ a length in a class 4 contest at Newton Abbot last week.
Most of the participants are coming into this class from the lower grade and therefore, they will be under some pressure. Mibleu, who won a class-2 race here last season, has a great chance of using his experience to finish
first on the podium. Good luck to everyone.
