Micah Lawrence and George Klein win titles in 100m breast-stroke meet – 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals
Micah Lawrence of SwimMac Carolina and George Klein of AUB won the gold medal of the Women’s and Men’s 100m breast-stroke meet on day three of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals, in Athens, Georgia, USA.
The 20-year-old Lawrence won the gold medal of the Women’s breast-stroke event, by posting a superb effort of 1 minute and 08.47 seconds. She was followed by Lauren A Norberg of AUB, who remained nearly one second behind her and touched the wall in 1 minute
and 09.12 seconds. The 19-year-old Norberg was 0.84 seconds faster than her following swimmer, ABSC’s Sara R Nicponski, who clocked an impressive time of 1 minute and 09.96 seconds for the third position.
Nicponski’s team-member, Michelle E McKeehan, earned the fourth fastest spot of the 100m event, as she touched the finishing wall in 1 minute and 10.21 seconds. Lindsey E Norberg of AUB and Olivia A Boggs of SA were the fifth and sixth fastest swimmers of
the breast-stroke event, as they posted a time of 1:11.07 and 1:11.35 minutes, respectively.
Moments later, the Men’s equivalent event was dominated by 22-year-old Klein, who clocked a time of 1 minute and 02.86 seconds. He was followed by Kameron E Chastain of CARD, who occupied the victory stand for the silver medal, by submitting a time of 1
minute and 03.33 seconds. Chastain was only 0.20 seconds faster from his following swimmer, Kevin A Swander of SwimMac Carolina, who followed him on the podium for the bronze medal with a timing of 1 minute and 03.64 seconds.
Klein’s team-member, Stuart G Ferguson settled on the concluding wall as the fourth fastest sprinter in a time of 1 minute and 03.90 seconds. Kenneth D Crapse of CARD and Matthew E Vaughan of Yellow Jacket were the fifth and sixth best swimmers, as they
reported in a time of 1:04.09 and 1:04.82 minutes, respectively.
In addition, the session concluded after the completion of all swimming events, while the winners were awarded with medals for their extraordinary swims.
