Micah Richards all praise for Wayne Rooney’s immaculate effort
Manchester City defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 has said that he was left astounded by Wayne Rooney’s immaculate overhead volley which eventually turned out be the decider in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The defender hailed Rooney’s cracking effort which came in the 78th minute and led his side to a 2-1 victory over arch rivals Manchester City. The defender said that he did not know what Rooney was up to until the ball thundered into the top corner.
“To be honest, when he was up there I was thinking 'What's he doing?' Then when the ball went in the net, I was speechless for about five seconds,” said the City right-back.
Micah Richards, who has rather lost his place to the new signing Jerome Boateng, said that it was because of his ability to score goals like these that United have done whatever they could to keep him. Rooney was widely speculated to leave United recently
but Ferguson managed to convince him to sign a new six-year deal.
“It was an incredible goal. That's what he can produce and why United did everything to keep him,” said Richards.
Wayne Rooney’s silenced his critics with a sublime effort, which is already being regarded as the best goal of the season. Rooney scored his fifth goal of a rather poor 2010-11 season but a third in three games for United after scoring brilliant 26 in the
previous season.
Manchester United were the first to score in the derby with Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Silva-c10601. It was Edin
Dzeko’s miscued shot that came off the Spaniard and went into the net. However, United went ahead 12 minutes from time when Rooney scored the winner.
The win puts Manchester United 8 points above their rivals, who are in third place, while the Red Devils still have a game in hand. On the other hand, the Citizens are still in contention of a Champions League place at the end of the season.
