Micah Richards back to full fitness
Manchester City defender Micah Richards has been out of action for a while due to injury worries, but the right back has finally said that he feels that he is back to full fitness and will be able to play in the next game
against Blackpool.
The England international has been bothered by a hamstring problem for a while; he was also forced out of the England Under 21 side that played against Romania and won 2-1. But the good news is that the 22 year old defender
is finally back to full fitness, and is looking to continue the good work he showed in the early games this season. Most of the players in team are eager to get back into league action, and so is Richards. A trip to Blackpool is normally something the fans
and the team looks forward to, but he said that visiting the Tower and the beach are certainly not on his priority list at the moment.
"I can't remember the last time I went for a day out to Blackpool," he told the club's official website.
"I've never been to the Illuminations, ever. I think I'd rather go somewhere I know is definitely going to be sunny."
The promising young defender admitted that his latest injury could not have come at a worse time for him. He said that he would have loved to play for the England Under 21 team and show Fabio Capello what he can do at international
level. Richards became the youngest England defender in 2006 when then manager Steve McLaren gave him his first cap. He played 11 games for England under McLaren, but had not been able to get a single game since Capello took over.
He said that missing out on the game was sad, but he was happy that the team qualified for the championships in Denmark next year. He added that it may also have been an opportunity for him to go back in the senior team,
as number of injuries had forced Capello’s hand but once again there is nothing that he could have done.
Micah Richards added that all he is focused on at the moment is to work hard for his club, and make sure that they finish at least in top 4 at the end of the season. While commenting on number of new players brought into
the team this season, he said that having talent from around the world is always good. Richards added that it is always the job of a manager to make sure that he can make optimum use of the resources at his disposal, and to keep an environment of good harmony
among players. He went on to say that Roberto Mancini is a man who has done the same thing for a number of years, so he has been doing exactly what is needed of him at the City of Manchester and he has complete faith in him.
Manchester City find themselves in the unfamiliar 2nd position in the league after 7 games; Micah said that considering how the team had prepared before the season and how much hard work they had put in it really
is not a big surprise.
The English right back said that if a team does not believe that they belong at top of the table, they will never be able to sustain that position. He added that given the resources and players in the team they can offer
serious challenge to Chelsea and Manchester United for the title this season.
