Manchester City defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Mancini and his tactics, which saw the team resort to using a 3-5-2 formation in the second half of their game against Ajax.
City went into the game looking to make up for their poor performances in their last two matches, but that didn’t prove to be the case.
The Manchester based team took the lead in the game, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 scored for them. However, they went on to concede an equalizer before the half came to a close.
Then in the second half they went on to concede another goal, before Mancini opted to change the formation that his side was using.
Despite the change in the formation, City went on to concede another goal, and ended up losing the match by three goals to one in the end.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323’s side are now sitting at the bottom of their group, with qualification seemingly rather hard at this point.
Richards feels that the team needs to find a specific formation and stick to it, since the constant changes seem to be having a massive impact on the team.
The full back is reported to have said: "It is something that we've not worked on a lot"
"We're used to a straight four and it's twice we've gone to a back five and conceded, but the manager likes it and if we want to do well we're going to have to work on it a little bit more.”
"The players just want to play. It's a hard system because we're not used to it but I think the players prefer a 4-4-2 but he's the manager and we do what he says."
However, he then went on to hail Ajax and their performance, while he admitted that City weren’t doing too good in their games and that something needed to change.
"I think we got beat by a very good Ajax side tonight. First half, when we went 1-0 up, they were probably the better team.”
"But in the second half we just crumbled. Very disappointed with the lads' performance tonight.”
It is now a wait to see how Mancini reacts to these comments from the defender. The manager has already admitted that he was at fault for the poor display, since he couldn't get his tactics right in the match. As a result, it will be interesting to see just
how he proves his worth in the coming weeks.
