Manchester City defender and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international Micah Richards believes that Manchester United are fearful of Manchester City. The defender believes United now realize the threat that the blue side of Manchester pose to their title ambitions and as a result, the derby on Sunday is going to be anything but an easy game for the team.
The two sides met in the Community shield game in August and City went on to pick up a two goal lead in the game. However, the Red Devils got back in the game and went on to take home the shield at the end of the night.
This time around Richards is looking forward to a very feisty encounter and is hopeful that City can come out on top.
When talking about the game, Richards is quoted to have said: "United now know, much as they won't say it, that we are a genuine threat to them.”
"We are not going out and saying we will win this game or that game, but they call us the noisy neighbours. I think they're a bit frightened."
"The last four derbies have not been that ferocious really, three or four years ago it was ridiculous, some of the tackling.
"I'd like to see that again, that ferocity, as it makes it more special. We all like to see nice football, but everyone loves a good tackle.
"It's harder these days, as if you tackle someone hard you get questioned. I preferred those ferocious derbies - if it's a foul obviously the referee has to pull it up, but with those 50-50 challenges he should just let the game flow."
Nonetheless, the defender is now confident over the fact that his side can come out on top in the game, after having made such a positive start to the Premier League season. City are currently on top of the Premier League table and from the looks of things, they might be able to give United a real run for their money this time around.
The team has the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Silva-c10601 all operating in top form and with the team’s defence looking to be stronger than it has ever been. United are going to have their work cut out for them.
Nonetheless, it is now going to be a wait till Sunday to see just how the two teams perform and which one of the two comes out with all three points at the end of the day.
