Kompany was banned for four games, following a very dubious red card against Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup.
The defender went on to tackle Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299 and despite him winning the ball, he was sent off because of the manner that he went in on the player.
The City defender had his studs up and could have seriously injured Nani, had he made contact with the player. As a result, the referee showed the player the red card based on his intent and not because of his actions.
In Kompany’s absence, City have had their fair share of problems. The team managed to beat Wigan and Tottenham in the Premier League, but went on to lose to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 over two legs in the Carling Cup.
The defender is considered to be one of the best centre backs in the league and for this reason, his absence seemed to have a very negative impact on City.
Richards is well aware of the importance of Kompany is more than happy to welcome back his captain and is certain that his return will help the team get a massive morale boost.
Richards said: "He has been an unbelievable miss. He is our captain and he and Joleon (Lescott) have been our best central defensive partnership this season.”
"He has played well in the big games and is a leader so it will be amazing to have him back and we can't wait to play with him again.
"He has still been coming in the changing room before games and saying how he feels we can improve, and what he would do if he was on the pitch, so he has still been an influence.”
Following their defeat in the Carling Cup, City are now looking to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 and will have Kompany available for the game.
Given their poor performances in their last couple of games, the team is going to be looking to pick up all three points from the game.
With Kompany at the back, the team is going to finally be to their full strength once again.
