Manchester City defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stefan-Savic-c34022 time to adjust to life in the Premier League.
The twenty one year old Montenegrin international was asked to step up and fill in for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184 this past weekend, as City took on Liverpool.
However, despite being given such a glorious opportunity to prove himself against the Reds, the defender kind of failed to live up to his reputation.
His performance in the game, if anything was one that he would like to forget and not think about ever again.
Nonetheless, Richards feels that everyone is being a little too harsh about Savic and his performance and that they need to calm down.
When talking about Savic, the defender took to his Twitter page to address the defender’s critics and stated: “I hope people will lay off Savic! He's only young and he has big boots to fill in @VincentKompany.”
Savic could be considered as the player responsible for City going into their second leg with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, with a one goal deficit.
During the first leg, Savic went on to take out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 in the area, which resulted in the referee pointing to the spot.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 converted from the penalty spot and scored the only goal of the game.
In the end, it was that goal that saw City lose out by three goals to two on aggregate.
Following his signing from Partizan  in the summers, the defender has managed to make seventeen appearances for City this term.
Despite coming in as one of the most promising youngsters around, he really hasn’t managed to live up to his expectations as yet.
The defender is considered to be one who is guaranteed to have one or two fumbles in the game, which occasionally cost City a goal or two.
Nonetheless, with him still being in his first season with the team and looking to adapt to life in the Premier League with City, it is safe to say he is going to slowly grow into his role.
All in all, should City be patient with Savic, he could grown into a great defender for the team on the long run.
