The tip of my pet mouses tail. The tip came off and now he's bleeding. I have no idea how it did. I was cleaning his cage, then I picked him up. And blood was all over my hand. In like a trail. Little blood drops. I can't explain it. What should I do?

  1. do you have any antiseptic powder?

if yes dip the end of the tail in here

if no do the same but withg flour

    it will stop the flow

  2. Put some cornstarch on the end of his tail to stop the bleeding, and clean his cage every 2- 2 1/2 days, so he can't get any infections or diseases. You should call your local vet when he is bleeding again, or just call to see what you can do!

    Hope this helped=) Good luck!

  3. The only thing you can really do for your mouse is to try to stop the bleeding. Try to dip the tip of the tail in some cornstarch- this should help the blood to clot. poor little thing.

he should get along ok without the end of his tail, but you should make sure to clean the cage regularly as it heals so he cant pick up any infections, and consult your vet if any problem arises

  4. If you have starch, put some on his tail. It should slow the bleeding, and eventually stop it.

if you don't have any, the best way would probably be just to get a tissue and wrap it as best as you can around his tail.

I'm not sure how the tip of his tail could have come off unless when you picked him up, you grabbed the tip or the middle of his tail. If you didn't, then it could have been a toy or something in his cage that caused it. If you have any runged wheels, his tail could have gotten caught. In desperation he probably forced his tail out of the wheel causing the tip to come off.
