I live in the country with fields all around me. Now I'm having major trouble w/ mice. I set out sticky traps and snap traps to catch them. Sometimes the sticky traps work, but never the Snap Traps. They seem to samrt, and they are so annoying, chewing on everything and what not! I cannot set out poison, bc I have a young child. Does anyone know of any ways to get rid of them?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

  1. These are some good sites on how to keep them from coming in and how to take care of them after they come in.

Try to avoid the sticky traps if you can.  Even though I'm not a huge mouse/rat fan, they are very inhumane.

Floyd's idea of a cat is also a great one.  I don't know how you would go about doing it, but if you could introduce barn owls into your area, that would be great to keep mice population down in the fields.

  2. As far as the regular traps try tying a piece of string around the bait tab and smear it with peanut butter.Keep them out by filling any cracks or holes with a can of expanding foam be sure to check under sinks around water pipes .Borrow a.cat for awhile.

  3. mix peanut butter and corn starch 1/2 and 1/2.  when they eat it the corn starch will swell in their gut like fish eyes in gravy. they will not be able to pass it or digest it and will die.

  4. Get a cat - never fails.

  5. You live in the country go to pet store buy 4 black snakes turn them lose under your house in 2 weeks you will have no mice........
