Michael Ballack: Real Madrid or Manchester United will suite Bastian Schweinsteiger
German International Michael Ballack has offered advice to his compatriot and former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger in deciding his future club. Ballack suggested that Real Madrid or Manchester United will be a suitable switch
if Bastian decides to leave Bayern Munich.
Although Michael’s advice is directed to Schweinsteiger, his former employees Bayern Munich and Chelsea FC may not be very pleased with his statement. Chelsea have identified Schweinsteiger as their priority transfer target come
next summer, while Bayern are determined not to let go of their star midfielder.
Ballack, who is currently playing at German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, left the Bavarian giants to join the West-London club in the summer of 2006.
The former Chelsea man was full of praise for the 26-year-old playmaker.
He said, “I'm very impressed with what Bastian Schweinsteiger has shown so far this term. Despite playing at the World Cup and going through a difficult period with Bayern, he always makes his mark on the game if he plays. He has
great charisma, a good personality, performs well and scores important goals. Everything is going just perfect for him. He takes his responsibilities and is currently in a phase of his career where he's nearing top form.”
Bastian shone during this year’s FIFA World Cup in South Africa and helped Germany finish 3rd in the tournament. The magical midfielder has a won the German Bundesliga and DFB Pokal Cup no fewer than five times apiece, but
could be tempted to accept a new challenge in Spain or England.
Michael added that the Spanish giants Real Madrid or English heavyweights Manchester United are the clubs where Schweinsteiger will find himself easy to settle.
He said, “Only he will be able to feel what is right for him for the future. Of course every footballer is attracted to certain things and Bastian will feel these also. But there are not that many big clubs around and Bayern is
one of them. On the other hand, Real Madrid or Manchester United are both attractive and he would fit in well at both clubs.”
Bastian’s current contract with Bayern ends in 2012 and the midfielder has been linked with the Los Blancos recently. Real's current boss, Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the German star and has made him a top transfer target
for the summer.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson is also eying to lure the energetic midfielder to Old Trafford. Given the current status of United’s midfield: an aging Paul Scholes, an injury prone Owen Hargreaves and an out-of-form Michael Carrick,
Bastian will to be a perfect recruit for the Red Devils.
However, Schweinsteiger’s move away from the Allianz Arena still remains a speculation as the player himself has refused to comment on the decision about his future.
