The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has reiterated his desire to leave the club in the summer and wants to ply his trade in another league.
The former Chelsea man has insisted that he will leave the club at the end of the season and will not be signing a new contract at BayArena. The player has had a tough time since returning to the Bundesliga from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the
summer of 2010 and has not settled well with his new side.
Ballack claimed that he has not decided which side to join in the summer but admitted that he has made the decision to leave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 for another league for a new challenge. The player’s agent had claimed recently that the most
likely destinations could be the MLS, Middle East or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926.
The former German international stated that he had offers from some other sides when he left Chelsea two years back but admitted that Leverkusen was always his priority as he loves the club.
“Nothing has been decided yet. However, I want a new challenge which is likely to be abroad. I had other offers when I decided to return. It was a matter of love,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich player admitted that he has had his problems at the club in his second stint. He revealed that Rudi Voller had wanted to sign him whereas Jupp Heynckes, who was Leverkusen’s manager last season, wanted
to promote players from the youth system to the first team.
Ballack added that there were definitely differences between him and Heynckes last year which is why he did not get ample playing chances.
“I think there were internal communication problems in terms of my role in the team. [Then-coach] Jupp Heynckes began increasingly to use younger players and [sporting director Rudi] Voller wanted me to play anyway,” he concluded.
