Michael Ballack insists players should take the blame for struggling Chelsea
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Ballack-c25270, who formerly played for Chelsea, has stated that players should take the blame for the English side’s poor performances in the recent weeks. He defended manager Andre Villas-Boas by
saying that the tactician should not be criticised as he is not playing on the pitch and that he should be given some more time to prove himself.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have had the worst start to the Premier League under owner Roman Abramovich this year and are most certainly out of the title race as the two Manchester giants look to fight it out at the end of the season. Villas-Boas
is widely being held responsible for the dismal season after the Blues suffered their fourth loss at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 this weekend.
Ballack claimed that the senior players should take responsibility for what is being done on the pitch. He stated that players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 should show their experience and guide the youngsters
if they want to succeed. He admitted that the club is faltering because of a group of players not a single one.
“You can't talk about or just criticise the young players. It always has to come from the older, more experienced players. There are still enough big and experienced players at the club who speak in the dressing room. I'm sure
of that. It's not just one player,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder added that there have been individual mistakes throughout the course of the season but still the manager is being blamed which is wrong. He urged the squad to work harder and find the right balance
in order to succeed.
“The manager is not on the pitch, we are on the pitch and we are making mistakes. He cannot do anything about individual mistakes while he is standing by the bench. So the players are to blame and we know it and we try to make
things happen and change,” he concluded.
Chelsea will next face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the next Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
