Michael Ballack looking to better his former club Chelsea in the Champions League meeting
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Ballack-c25270, has fired a warning shot towards his former club, Chelsea, ahead of their Champions League encounter on Wednesday. He also regarded his team as favourites going into Wednesday’s game.
Ballack was talking ahead of his side’s second leg clash against the depleted Chelsea. The Blues will make a trip away to BayArena on Wednesday, November 23. Leverkusen were defeated 2-0 in the first leg at Stamford Bridge and are in with a huge opportunity
of taking revenge, keeping in mind Chelsea's poor form.
The veteran midfielder emphasised on the importance of Wednesday’s game and urged his side to make full use of their good form.
He was of the view that Leverkusen would certainly be the favourites against Chelsea despite losing to them in the first leg. Ballack told that the Werkself are better prepared this time around and could pose trouble to Andre Villas-Boas' men.
The 35-year-old further pointed at the importance of the game against Chelsea, as a win would secure them a place in the round-of-16. A loss, on the other hand, would leave the Werkself with a tricky situation especially if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 beat Genk at home on
Wednesday.
While talking to reporters ahead of the game, the veteran German further enthused:
“It’s a fantastic game to have at home and I think everyone has been waiting, with growing anticipation, to have this one at our own stadium. We have to give a good account of ourselves, we all know the situation in the table, it’s very close.”
He also stated, “We have played well so far, but we have had a few ups and downs, but we have the chance to take some points at home and against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, that is a special game.”
Bayern are fresh from a 2-0 Bundesliga win away to Kaiserslautern and could definitely threaten Chelsea at BayArena.
The Blues, on the other hand, are fresh from a 2-1 defeat at home to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 on Sunday and will have their work cut out in front of a capacity crowd.
Chelsea are currently leading the Champions League group E with eight points, two points clear of Bayer Leverkusen.
