Michael Beasley wants his tenure with the Phoenix Suns to be a success – NBA Update
Michael Beasley has been nothing short of a surprising story in his four years in the NBA. From being selected as the number 2 pick in 2008 by the Miami Heat to eventually being let off by his second team, the Minnesota Timberwolves,
Beasley has been disappointing in his professional life.
However with this latest move, the forward hopes to start fresh with the Phoenix Suns next season.
The problem so far in his career has not been his scoring abilities - he managed to average 19.2 points per game in his first year in Minnesota. The real reason behind his failures has been the involvement in the off the court
activities that have caused him trouble on more than a few occasions.
Last season was his worst in which he scored only 11.5 points per game. However after joining the Suns on an $18 million contract that will see him play in the valley for the next three years, Beasley expects a beginning of a new
era for him.
He wants to set his priorities straight and begin to live up to his potential with his new team.
“You have to embrace your past. Ultimately it was my fault. I’m here to play basketball and I’m here to work hard and hopefully my next contract will be a little bit bigger to say the least. I’ve been through a lot in my past,
some good and some bad and that kind of altered my value. I understand I’ve grown and I’m ready to move on….” – Beasley
Beasley wants to just commit himself to the team and do whatever head Coach Alvin Gentry wants him to do. Even though there is still a lot of work to with the Phoenix franchise before they can even start to consider themselves
to be in contention for a championship, or playoff contention even, Beasley wants to help his new team get on the right path.
Beasley accepted that so far in his career, he has failed to live up to the bidding, but come next season; he vowed to be an All-Star;
“In my mind I’m going to be an All-Star this coming season. All I want to do is win. Whether I get the recognition for what I do on the floor or not, as long as we’re winning I’m okay with that.”
