The Phoenix Suns forward is trying to work his way towards a fresh start, after four years of disappointments and under-achievements....
Michael Beasley’s time in the NBA has been rather unsuccessful so far and the small forward has failed to live up to his true potential.
Starting off with the Miami Heat as the number two pick and then spending two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Beasley has always shown potential to become one of the best players around in the league. However, disciplinary
violations and his lack of professionalism has prevented him from playing at his beat and he is often tagged as an ‘underachiever’.
But those days are a thing of the past according to Beasley as he gears up for what he is calling his redemption season with the Phoenix Suns, the team which gave him a three year contract this summer.
Beasley has been working very hard during the off-season in order to live up to his promise and according to a reports he has gone back to his college mentor Norm Nixon;
“Beasley has been working out with his mentor and personal trainer, former NBA guard Norm Nixon, in Los Angeles. Some onlookers have said that Beasley was the recent star of some traditional summer pro pickup games at UCLA.” –
Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic reported recently.
Nixon might just be able to provide the push Beasley needs to get his NBA career back on track. One of the main things in which Nixon can help Beasley is professionalism - something he was known for during his playing days with
the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers. Beasley will also need that bit of spark which he had during his college and seems to have been lost ever since the forward stepped foot on an NBA court.
While his performance in Miami was alright, Beasley never managed to deliver in Minnesota, even though the team only had one other major contributor in Kevin Love. Coming into the Suns next season, the forward needs to adapt quickly
and focus on his game for once. For if he delivers the Suns can be a major threat in the West.
