Michael Bell expecting Set To Music to make winning comeback at York
Trainer Michael Bell is expecting his 4-year-old filly, Set To Music, to return to action with a huge bang at York on Thursday, May 17th. The Queen-owned is due to run in the Group 2 Betfred Middleton Stakes, getting
underway at 14:00 GMT.
The filly went out of action after her brilliant performance at Doncaster in September last year. Prior to her runner-up place in the DFS Park Hill Stakes, she sealed four consecutive wins last season.
The latest of her wins came at York, where she demonstrated a wonderful act in the EBF "Selkirk" Galtres Stakes in August 2011. The class-1 event saw her beating Cracking Lass by two and a quarter lengths to ensure the top rank.
Bell wants his filly to repeat the show at York and start her 2012 campaign on a winning note. Despite the fact that the filly is facing a very tough opposition in today’s 1m2f88y event, the trainer is hopeful for a positive
outcome.
"It's always been the intention to start her off in this race. Obviously the drying ground is not ideal for her, but I expect her to come on for the run and hopefully it will set her up for the year," Bell said.
On the other hand, Luca Cumani is bringing Mohedian Lady back to the racecourse. Today’s £56,710 contest will be Mohedian Lady’s first appearance this season and the trainer is expecting the goods from the rampant filly.
"Mohedian Lady runs in the Middleton Stakes in preference to the Blue Wind Stakes at Naas," read a statement posted on
http://www.lucacumani.com/.
"Given that she also looks to have improved physically over the winter then we could see an improved filly this year - though it has to be said that this is a warm race and ideally we'd have been happier had it been at a mile
and a half."
Set to Music and Mohedian Lady are all set to face some big names today. According to the current betting card, Izzi Top is sitting on the top. John Gosden, who is coming into this contest in search of her hat-trick, is the
centre of attention at the moment.
