Michael Berrer ousts Philip Davydenko 6-3, 6-1
Left-hander German, Michael Berrer prevailed over the Russian professional, Philip Davydenko, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the second qualifiers of the Moselle Open 2012, held at the hand courts of France.
Berrer summed up his outstanding win a total of one hour.
The 32-year-old German held his opening serve in the initial set and secured the maximum advantage out of it by clamping the front line with his 2-1 lead. However, the Russian challenger struggled hard to upset
his opponent and the scores evened out to 2-all in the fourth game. Berrer broke his rival’s serve in the sixth game to 4-2 and continued his flawless journey without facing any hindrance. At the end, he confidently concluded the set with a 6-3 score.
In the next set, Davydenko made a sloppy start and was unable to retain his serves the whole time in the set. As he was under the pressure, he could secure merely a single game in the entire set. The German veteran
journeyed without a big trouble and stamped the match closure with a breadstick, 6-1.
The 32-year-old Russian manifested 73 percent initial serve accuracy, with 24 of 32 points. He also managed to capitalize five of 11 serve breaks presented to him. On the other hand, Davydenko secured 68 percent
initial serve presentation snatching away 19 of 43 points in the match.
Mischa Zverev prevails over Romain Jouan 6-1, 6-1
Ranked 185th in the South African Airways ATP Single Rankings, Mischa Zverev defeated the local challenger, Romain Jouan, in the second qualifier of the Moselle Open. The duo encountered each other
for the third time and the Frenchman still hold a 2-1 lead in the head-to-head series. However, Zverev summed up his 6-1, 6-1 win in a total of one hour on Sunday.
The 27-year-old Frenchman held his serve in the opening set but was unable to capitalize his lead. Zverev busted his rival’s serve a couple times and maintained his classic run of form. He journeyed through the
end without facing any real challenge and clinched a 6-1 score line.
In the second set, the 25-year-old German broke his opponent’s initial serve, confidently smashing high serve volleys and backhands. Jouan was unable to sustain the pressure and miserably failed to secure any
lead, closing the match with a 1-6 loss.
