Michael Bevan gives 2011 World Cup vote of confidence to India
Former Australian lower-middle order batsman, Michael Bevan has favoured team India to win next month’s World Cup.
Bevan is yet another expert of the game who has supported the prospects of India in cricket’s biggest event of the year.
“India is performing as a team, as a unit. One would have to say that they have come up great as a team. There is so much potential in these boys," he said. “They are the number one Test side in the world, second
in one-day internationals. India have got the capacity to lead world cricket for a long time."
Australia’s former Mr. Dependable believes that the current Indian outfit is probably the world’s best and has the capacity to take on any team in the upcoming World Cup.
He reiterated that it was a known fact that the Indians are the hardest to beat at home and since this World Cup would be played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, the Indians have all the luck in the world on
their side.
Many cricket experts believe that the rest of the word would have to play really well to stop the Indians from lifting the World Cup.
Bevan has been hired by the Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 as the head coach of the team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
India have won the World Cup only once in 1983; they were runner-ups in 2003. However, they were completely unimpressive in the 2007 World Cup, where they were knocked out of the tournament in the initial stages.
However, India have taken their game to a whole new level since 2007 and are looking to be an exceptionally strong outfit at the moment.
India are currently touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 where they first played a three-match Test series against the Proteas. The series ended in a draw with each team winning one match (the final match ended in a draw). The
Indians then lost the only T20 match of the tour; however, after losing the first match of the 5-match ODI series, they bounced back and defeated the hosts in the second and third ODI by one run at the Wanderers and then by two wickets at Newlands, Cape Town.
From these two ODI results, it has become quite evident that India can win a game from nowhere because in both the matches India were almost out and done but in the end they managed to pull off commendable victories.
Teams who have the capacity to clinch victories from tough situations always have better prospects in the World Cup.
