Michael Bisping: Brian is a h**l of a fighter – UFC News
Briton middleweight fighter Michael Bisping was hopeful that he would defeat American fighter Brian Stann at UFC 152. He certainly did so and impressed everyone who ever doubted his capabilities. Not just his fans and critics, Bisping was able to surprise
president Dana White as well, who never considered Bisping good enough for a title shot.
Bisping defeated Stann past Saturday via unanimous decision. The fight was a tough one but Bisping managed to somehow use his jab to weaken Stann.
“Brian is a h**l of a fighter,” said Bisping. “I thought that if I had one obvious advantage, it would be in the wrestling department. But I didn't want to just go out there and turn it into a wrestling match. It's the UFC – we're here to fight. I want to
put on an exciting fight. I wanted to stop the guy. I was unsuccessful doing that, but as far as gameplans go, I executed it well. I wanted to hit him. I wanted to take him down. I wanted to knock him out or submit him. I didn't do that.”
“But what I wanted to do was keep him guessing. One minute, he'd think I was going to punch him, and then (I'd) shoot in.”
For now, Bisping is hungry for the title shot, at least that is the way he puts it. He might be clashing with Chris Weidman, who supposedly is the number one contender for the shot. Chris Weidman is currently scheduled to fight Tim Boetsch and then probably
he will fight Michael Bisping to decide who will face Silva.
As of now, Bisping is hopeful that he is in line for the title shot. He was promised by UFC officials that he would get a title shot at Silva, if he defeats Stann in a dominating manner. Even Dana White admits that Bisping was unexpectedly great against
Stann.
Many analysts questioned Bisping’s resilience and his capability of taking hard shots. Against Stann, Bisping proved that he indeed is robust enough to take the worst type of beating and that he is ready to give it to Silva.
