Michael Bisping believes it is time to act responsible – UFC News
Rarely does it happen that a fighter turns back from his statements, in a good way. Surprisingly, one of the most hated fighters of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Michael Bisping has done so. According to Bisping, his 2007 win over Matt Hamill in the
O2 Arena at UFC 75 could have come with a better decision.
Back in 2007, on September 8, Bisping defeated Hamill via split decision. The decision soon became controversial, and young Bisping back in those days invited more rage from the fans by acting ignorant towards the entire scenario.
Not just that, even today, Bisping’s attitude is considered ill-mannered by many, especially after his recent verbal assaults at his UFC 152 foe Brian Stann.
However, now Bisping believes it is time for him to act responsible and mature. In an interview with Yahoo Sports!, the Briton fighter came up saying, “Listen, it was a really, really close fight, a lot closer than maybe I gave credit for after the fight.
I was a lot younger then. I had a lot of adrenaline flowing through my body and I felt a lot of personal animosity. In those kinds of situations, you don't always look at things with a level head and with a clear perspective.”
While Bisping became one of the most controversial UFC fighters, Matt went onto become a top-level fighter with the public support he acquired.
“In my opinion, even though it didn't seem that way at the time, I think it's the best thing that ever happened to Matt,” asserted Hamill’s trainer and manager Duff Holmes. “People would approach us and said, 'I can't believe it; you were completely robbed.
You killed Bisping.' It catapulted Matt into the upper echelon of fighters.”
Bisping is aware of the fact that he is not surely a fighter fans want to see. Since now he is looking forward to a title shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Bisping feels it is time for him to let go off his past.
Bisping will be facing Brian Stann at UFC 152 this month. The Briton wants to beat Stann and get his hands on Silva.
