Michael Bisping eager to get in the cage again – UFC Special
UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping cannot wait to get in the cage once again. ‘The Count’ was told to wait to fight the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Tim Boetsch, which will be taking place by the end of December. Following his dominating victory over
Brian Stann, Bisping was to face the winner of Weidman vs. Boetsch to decide for the number one contender in the division.
Nevertheless, the Briton mixed martial artist cannot hold his horses and wants to get in the cage as soon as possible. Probably, this is the reason why he is scheduled to fight ‘The Phenom’ Vitor Belfort in January.
“I'm not prepared (to wait),” said Bisping in an interview with ESPN. “This is the way I make a living and I want to fight.”
While grabbing a victory against Belfort could add the much needed weight to Bisping’s portfolio, a loss can pull him down to square one. However, ‘The Count’ fears nothing now and he wants to make it big in the division.
“I want to fight somebody else in the mean time. I'll take my chance. If I win, great. If I lose, I don't deserve a title shot anyway. I want to fight in January or February. I'd like to fight three or four times a year,” he added.
Bisping has been eyeing a title shot at middleweight champion Anderson Silva for quite some time now. He lost to The American Gangster Chael Sonnen last year to lose the number contender spot. Now, with Sonnen out of the picture, Bisping believes nothing
stands in his way of getting a shot at Silva, who is known as the best martial artist in the UFC.
‘The Count’ will be entering the cage with five wins in his last six fights. He recently defeated American Brian Stann to secure his position to fight against winner of Weidman vs. Boetsch.
Bisping has put dreams of his title shot on the line by opting to fight Vitor Belfort. A loss could mean he does not get a shot at Silva for the next one or two year, until he proves himself again worthy of a title shot.
