Michael Bisping reveals he has been promised match against Anderson Silva – UFC News
UFC’s middleweight fighter Michael Bisping wants to lock horns with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Bisping will face Brian Stann at UFC 152 in September.
According to Bisping, he has been promised a match against Anderson Silva by officials if he is able to defeat Stann.
“I've been told if I beat him - and beat him well - I'll get a title shot. But I haven't gotten it in writing, so it probably doesn't mean anything,” said Bisping in his recent interview.
On the other hand, President of UFC Dana White believes Bisping still needs to prove his mettle if he wants to go head to head with Anderson Silva.
“Anderson Silva is amazing. He's pound-for-pound best, all that, we all know that, he's incredible. But a lot of his opponents I don't think have given him a fight. He hasn't had a fight recently. Yushin Okami just sort of fell over, Forrest Griffin got
jabbed unconcious; people give him too much respect. The only person that didn't was Chael Sonnen and he got submitted in the final round. I know I could give him a good fight,” said Bisping while talking about archrival Chael Sonnen’s performance against
Anderson Silva.
Anderson Silva recently went head to head with Chael Sonnen in a rematch. While most analysts though Sonnen will be able to end Silva’s reign as champion, Silva yet again rose to heights to knocking out the American Gangster.
It should be noted here that Sonnen defeated Michael Bisping last year to earn a title shot against Silva. Now, since Sonnen is out of Bisping’s way, there are chances of the Briton getting a shot against Silva.
The only hurdle in Bisping’s way is Sonnen. As President Dana White has already indicated that he does not want Sonnen to leave the organisation, there are speculations of the American Gangster going head to head with Silva once again.
Bisping is currently excited for his showdown against Stann, as he wants to prove his mettle. If he is lucky, he might defeat Stann to get a shot against Silva, but nothing is for sure yet.
