Michael Bisping takes a shot at Mauricio Rua – UFC News
Usually the silent player, Michael Bisping is quite active these days in passing comments over fellow fighters. The Brit mixed martial artist criticised Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua for rejecting a fight with Glover Teixeira.
Last week, Bisping left no stone unturned to knock down Chael Sonnen for his under par performance against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Earlier this week, Bisping lashed out on Chris Weidman for calling him ‘a fighter with no sense’. Now, Bisping
is on Shogun, trying to make him realise his wrongdoing of turning down a fight against Glover.
“I have asked for higher fights a couple times. I can kind of understand why Shogun Rua feels the way he does being a former champion. And Glover Teixeira is an amazing fighter, but he is not a household name like Shogun,” said Bisping.
He added, “Glover has everything to win in this situation, but Shogun has to look at what the gains are for him. I am not saying I would choose my fights, but I sympathize with them. We are not in the habit of choosing our fights, the UFC makes the fights.
I have never turned down an opponent.”
It seems like Bisping is following Sonnen’s trend of trash-talking to make headlines in order to garner fans’ attention. As president of UFC Dana White believes, Bisping is an underrated fighter, even though he has taken on the best in the business.
Michael Bisping went head to head with Chael Sonnen last year. He lost via points to the American Gangster. The fight was for the number one contender for the UFC middleweight title. While Sonnen walked away with the victory and the title shot, Bisping found
himself being overlooked by the organisation.
Now, after Silva knocked out Sonnen, Bisping believes it is his time to juggle things up. The Briton has claimed that UFC officials have already promised him a showdown against Silva, if he wins at UFC 152 against Brian Stann.
Brian Stann, Michael Bisping and Chris Weidman, are all looking forward to the title shot. However, Silva’s camp has turned down the notion of fighting any one of them, calling them kids in the party.
