Michael Bisping wants to give Anderson Silva ‘a fight’ – UFC News
After Sonnen’s crushing knockout defeat to Silva, Michael Bisping believes the bar has been raised. The Briton mixed martial artist believes Silva needs to face better opponents.
According to Bisping, most of the fighters Silva has faced to date, have not given him tough competition.
“Anderson Silva is amazing. He's pound-for-pound best, all that, we all know that, he's incredible. But a lot of his opponents I don't think have given him a fight. He hasn't had a fight recently. Yushin Okami just sort of fell over, Forrest Griffin got
jabbed unconcious; people give him too much respect. The only person that didn't was Chael Sonnen and he got submitted in the final round. I know I could give him a good fight. I would certainly do better than what people recently have done. I want my chance."
said Bisping.
He added that he has been in the UFC since 2005 and he feels he has earned a shot against Silva. Moreover, Bisping confidently said that he can give Silva a tougher time than most of his recent opponents.
It should be noted here that Michael Bisping lost to Chael Sonnen last year. The American Gangster made it a mark to show Bisping as an inferior fighter. However, he himself for surprised over the courage and skills the Briton fighter put up against him.
Silva once again proved he is unbeatable, after nailing Sonnen in the second round. It was their second meeting and Sonnen was the favourite. Most analysts were of the view that Sonnen would end Silva’s era as champion to no vain.
Sonnen was badly beaten by the Brazilian Spider. In the second round, he pushed Sonnen against the net and thrashed him with elbows and knees. The American Gangster did not have much to do. The referee ended the match and Silva once again walked out as the
champion.
Michael Bisping believes Sonnen is a great fighter but his attacking style is not good enough to take on Silva. According to him, Silva needs an opponent who can attack and at the same time can technically counter his moves.
