Michael Bradley aims third victory in the Puerto Rico Open – Golf News
Michael Bradley, the defending champion of Puerto Rico Open, is aiming a third victory in four years at the Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande.
His first victory came in the 2009 edition, when he defeated Jason Day and Brett Quigley with a one-stroke margin.
On the other hand, his last year’s victory came with a par on the first extra hole in the playoffs against Troy Matteson.
The player believes that he can repeat history by playing well and making some good putts will help him achieve his target.
According to him, if a player succeeds in overcoming his mistakes and he has full control over his mind, then he can definitely hit shots where he aims to.
He has the chance of taking over his opponents on the final day of the event.
“I am trying to eliminate stupid mistakes, throwing shots away and not taking advantage of good shots. Hopefully, we can do that this week," the 45-year-old American said.
While talking about the weather conditions of the venue, he commented that he is used to playing in such conditions. He also said that he is keeping calm and will try not to surrender to his nerve.
However, the windy and wet conditions this year will certainly be taken into consideration when the tournament starts on Thursday.
"Definitely excited to be back," Bradley said. "Course is in good shape. The conditions we are used to, maybe a little bit of breeze, but looking forward to starting tomorrow and see what I can do".
"The course is playing long. It is a little wet, not when you are on the fairway, but you are not getting a lot of roll, so it is playing long," he added.
Bradley also noticed that the rough is a little up with greens behaving slower compared to the past years. Yet, they are in good shape offering a good competition on the course.
The Japanese golfing sensation, Ryo Ishikawa, who has recently received an invitation to play the Masters at Augusta National, is also part of the field.
He was among the players who noticed the wind gusts seriously and said that he will have to be patient while playing at the Trump International.
