Michael Carrick hoping for an FA Cup derby final
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick says he is hoping to face local rivals Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup.
Carrick has already revealed his long-standing desire of lifting the FA Cup trophy with the Red Devils. It is the only honour that has eluded the midfielder throughout his career at Old Trafford, and he claims that he is desperate to finally get his hands
on an FA Cup winners’ medal in the current 2010-11 season.
Carrick says that winning that prestigious title will be all the more sweet if United can beat local rivals Manchester City in the final of the tournament.
However, the meeting of the two sides in the final is hardly assured. Manchester United have a huge obstacle between them and the title in the shape of Arsenal. The Red Devils are set to face the Gunners in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Saturday,
12 March, 2011.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will have to overcome Reading to advance further. Even if both Manchester clubs go on to win their respective matches, there are still the semi-final stages of the tournament to get through before both teams can face each other
in the final.

Carrick claims that the Red Devils are focussing on each game as it arrives. For now, the Premier League leaders are gearing up for their quarterfinal clash against Arsenal on 6 March, 2011.

Manchester United are currently at the summit of the Premier League standings with 60 points.
