Australian selectors have a tough job ahead of them for making the right pick of fast bowlers before the national team heads out for its upcoming tour to South Africa, where four pacers will be squeezed into a 3-man spot, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945 being one of the candidates.
However, the news may come a little bitter for Johnson, as other contenders for the spot, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Despite Johnson’s worry, the pacer still has his Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978’s praises, who recently lauded Johnson for his ability to do well with the ball, stating that he still is not past his best.
Citing his comments for Johnson, after the recent 3rd Test, Clarke said, “I don't think http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryl-Mitchell-c52533 has lost his mojo. I still think he’s as good a strike weapon as there is in international cricket. I think he's a match-winner with bat and with ball, when he's at his best. Mitch has got some time now if he wants to go away, whether he gets away from the game or if he wants to work on some things”.
The skipper also stated that Johnson bowled well throughout the Lankan series, but was not so lucky; however, at the same time, he was the only pacer on the line-up who made the best use of the swing.
Clarke also appreciated Siddle’s performance, stating that he made the best use of the opportunity; however, if the team is to visit http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s last tour in 2008-09.
However, for now, Clarke stands out as a happy Skipper, knowing the fact that his players put up an imposing performance throughout the tour to the island, especially under a new Captain.
The Australian's, who are struggling for the team’s revival since the last disappointing Ashes, will have the South Africans as tough competitors. However, the opportunity comes as one for the Aussies to test their real bronze as the former world greats.
