Michael Clarke confident of bowling Matthew Wade – Cricket News Update
Following wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, revealed his willingness to bowl Australia’s
glove-man in future competitions.
“He bowled with good pace. There are some opening bowlers around the world who struggle to reach the 132kph Matt generated. We're going to see more of Matthew Wade bowling in Test cricket, that's for sure,” shared Clarke in his column for the News Ltd.
Requiring 8 touring Sri Lankan wickets on the final day at Hobart for their first Test victory at home this summer, skipper Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 asked the Australian wicketkeeper to bowl an over prior to the tea-break as a surprise package for the opposition.
Despite not being able to strike for the Kangaroos, Wade impressed everyone by reaching 132kph on the speed gun (which many opening bowlers around the world fail to generate) during his maiden over.
The Captain was impressed by Wade’s bowling in the nets during training, which prompted him to experiment with the 24-year-old at Bellerive Oval.
“Matt got me out a couple of times in the nets and got himself an over in Test cricket. It won't be his last. He loves his bowling. And it reinforces my belief since I've been captain that it doesn't matter how we get 20 wickets or who takes them to win
the Test,” added Clarke.
The Australian skipper feels that if the tail-enders can score important runs for the side, then batsmen should also help the bowlers. Nonetheless, if Wade is asked to bowl again for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, then another important question (who will take the gloves whilst
he is bowling?) will surface for Clarke.
The left-handed batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185, took the responsibility last time (as it was just a single over) successfully. However, Australia will have to train a part-time wicketkeeper for their playing XI in order to allow Wade to take the ball.
Not expected to become a regular Test bowler though, Wade was happy to bowl for his side, and expressed that he would like to take it up again if the need arises.
