Michael Clarke, the newly appointed Australian skipper, considers the upcoming home series against India as a tough challenge and has started preparing himself for it right now.
He argued that Australian cricket is experiencing the worst slump of its history and he is destined to change its fate.
Clarke took the leadership reins from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011. It was for the first time after 12 years that the four-time World Champions were kicked out of the tournament race by India.
Moreover, Australia has lost two back to back Ashes series which the Australians consider to be a huge loss.
During the current season, the Aussies are set to tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at home.
Of all the four teams, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 considers India to be the most dangerous and competitive one since the Men in Blue are at the peak of form and confidence after winning the World Cup and playing a lengthy IPL season.
During their tour, the Men in Blue are set to play a series of four Tests against the Aussies.
Talking to Fox Sports today, Clarke recalled the memories of the last home series against India and said, “There are certain players in both teams who look back on what happened there and wish it didn't happen. But you learn from that. There are so many
things in your life that you learn from. For me as a player that's one of them.”
He further added, “It (the IPL) has built relationships between players no doubt. Guys play against each other and then go to IPL and play with each other. I think that's great for the game.”
Clarke, who is tasked with bringing ashore the sinking boat of Australian cricket, thinks that winning against India at home will be highly significant for them.
The 30-year-old right-handed batsman started his international career in 2003. Since then he has played 69 Tests, 198 ODIs and 34 T20Is, with 4742, 6309 and 488 runs in the three formats respectively.
