The Aussie cricket captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-James-Clark-c75974, has denied his suspected role in Simon Katich’s exclusion from the list of Cricket Australia’s contracted players.
Although, Clark expressed his excitement over the addition of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Young-c98322 cricketers in the ranks, he dismissed the notion that he played any part in the recent decision against the 35-year-old left-handed opener.
Recently, Cricket Australia (CA) awarded 25 cricketers with contracts for 2011-2012, and Katich’s name was the most unexpected elimination from the list.
According to rumours circulating in the media, Katich’s dismissal might be the result of his rift with Clark, a couple of years ago.
However, the Aussie skipper rejected the speculations, saying "When you become captain you don't become a selector so I had absolutely nothing to do with that (Katich's axing). That's a selector's job. I sent Simon a text once I found out. Obviously I feel
his disappointment.”
Katich earlier lashed out at CA’s decision to jettison him without any logical reason, but at the same time, he poured cold water on the thought that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clark-c51118 was responsible for his sacking.
At an average of 45.03, Katich has scored 4188 runs in 56 Tests for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. Clark acknowledged that Katich has been a terrific performer for the country since his international debut in 2001, and he could understand his disappointment.
