Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Warriors-c861’ top-order batsman, Michael Clarke, revealed that he did not take part in the previous editions of the Indian Premier league (IPL) in order to enhance his skills in the longer versions of the sport but made it clear that he does not want to
miss out on IPL in the coming years.
The Australian captain took part in the tournament for the first time in the on-going fifth season. The right-handed batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 played six matches for the Warriors this year but could not make an impression in the tournament as he managed
merely 98 runs at 16.33 per innings.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 always preferred international cricket over IPL but expressed that since the last four years, he avoided franchise cricket because the batsman was working hard to develop his skills in Tests and One Day Internationals.
The 31-year-old sportsman called it a day from T20 internationals in 2010 but he does not mind playing in the IPL now. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in September.
Clarke said, "I stayed away from the IPL for a number of reasons. First, I thought I needed to stay away to improve my Test and one-day batting. The six weeks of the IPL was a window I wanted to use at the nets to improve as a Test and one-day batsman. In
fact, I also retired from T-20 international cricket to concentrate on Test and one-day cricket.”
There is an extra-ordinary change in Clarke’s attitude towards the cash-rich league as he is geared up to take part in the coming seasons of the tournament as well.
"Talking about next year, yes, I am much looking forward to playing the IPL again. It is a fantastic tournament and it will help me improve my T-20 game a lot," he added.
A number of former cricketers all around the world, including Michael Atherton, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Michael-Chappell-c63914 have a consensus that franchise cricket is a curse for the game as it is going to damage international sport.
